*THE LOSS, THE WIN*

   – *WHAT’S GOING ON TOMARROW?*

Ricky Romero (10-5) vs. AJ Burnett (10-5)

On Monday, Yankee fans witnessed the “Boston momentum” come to a screeching hault when Sergio Mitre took the mound. On Tuesday, Joba was scheduled to start – and despite getting roughed up in the 3rd, New York fought hard to avoid a second loss. Here’s the scoop:

We kicked off the game on fire, posting 2 runs in the first inning, and an additional run in the second. It seemed as though Chamberlain was having another huge game – but by the 5th, the Jays managed to regain the lead and give us all a little scare. No worries…

Back to back homers sealed the deal, and for once – it wasn’t Damon and Teixeira! Last night’s game-savers were Matsui and Posada, who snatched the lead back in the 8th to wrap things up. Signal ‘Mo for the save, and you have yet another classic Yankee comeback victory…

   – *YOUKILIS GETS TOSSED…*

*Off topic, but check out some highlites of the Red Sox/Tigers game if you get a chance. Kevin Youkilis charged the mound – and despite being the size of a lumberjack, was tossed to the ground by the opposing pitcher after getting beaned. It’s one of the funniest mound-charges I’ve ever witnessed…

*TEX VS YOUK*

   – *WHO’S THE ALL-STAR?*

   – It’s hard not to be biased here, as I’m a devout Yankee fan – (and I’m obligated to hate everything Boston.) This years all-star voting is coming down to the wire, and it’s time to decide once and for all: who’s playing first base for the American league?

*Let’s start by braking down the stats…

TEIXEIRA:
RUNS: 45 <
HITS: 68 <
HOMERUNS: 20 <
RBI’s: 55 <
STRIKEOUTS: 41 <
AVERAGE: .283

YOUKILIS:
RUNS: 39
HITS: 59
HOMERUNS: 12
RBI’s: 39
STRIKEOUTS: 54
AVERAGE: .324 <

*And there you have it. Braking it down on paper, I can’t even believe what I’m seeing to be honest with you. With a .324 batting average, I thought that Youkilis would undoubtedly have the edge in every stats column, (with the exception of homeruns.) I couldn’t of been more wrong! The end result is that: I had no idea what to expect in doing this little bit of research, but I now see that I don’t need to be biased at all…

Teixeira is the obvious all-star here folks. Here’s some food for thought… The stats above are just the batting we’ve seen from these two players. Do we really need to establish who’s better in the field!? Teixeira takes the cake in that catagory too, so what’s really left to debate here? In all fairness, it comes down to what YOU think is more impressive. (Actually, it comes down to who gets more votes lol -) But what impresses you? Youkilis hitting consistantly all season long, or Teixeira slumping – and quickly catching up to the best batters in the league? (.300 is just around the corner.) It’s a toss up – and *on paper,* – the winner is clearly Tex.
