*A HUGE NIGHT AT FENWAY*

   – *WHAT’S GOING ON TOMARROW?*

A.J. Burnett (10-6) vs. Junichi Tazawa (1-2)

document.write(“
Tickets“);     – *THE YANKEES GO HARD IN BOSTON*

Where do I begin? We all know the Red Sox kicked off this season undefeated against New York to stir up the rivalry. We all know that New York defied the critics and swept the Red Sox when the next chance presented itself. What would be a fair assessment for the next matchup?

Last night, we witnessed what most fans hadn’t even dreamed of.  The Yankees didn’t just win – the Yankees dominated. New York put up so many runs, falling asleep couldn’t even help the Red Sox realistically comeback… Here’s the deal:

   – *A-ROD ROBBED OF THE CYCLE*

It was definently a huge night for A-Rod, but what most people failed to notice is that he was an inch away from the cycle! The triple was there, the single was there – but the homerun fell a foot shallow of clearing the ‘Big Green Monster,’ – and the double was scratched when he was tagged out at second. Ok – so I guess he wasn’t really “robbed,” but missing those two hits in that fashion was a low-blow to me. He ended the day 4 for 4 with an RBI, and one run scored…

   – *MATSUI ALMOST PARKED THREE*

What can top Rodriguez going 4 for 4? How about Hideki Matsui hitting 2 homeruns, and nearly hitting a 3rd to the right field wall! I know, I know… “almost doesn’t count,” – but when you smash two in the same game, and a long fly ball has the distance to clear the fence for another – power is power. “Almost” is approriate…

   – *JETER BEING JETER*

How did Derek Jeter handle pressure in Boston? *Yawn* The tipical .500 night with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored… Nothing major. Nothing remotely MVP worthy

   – *STOP HITTING YOURSELF!*

Damon was removed from the game after continuously hitting foul balls into his leg. C’mon now Johnny – save the ball-wounds for the pitchers that love you.

   – *MORE BOLD LETTERS?*

Another headline indeed. Teixeira may of had the best ‘underdog’ day of all, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI’s and 3 runs scored. That’s a ‘Tex message’ we all need to download…

   *THE RETURN OF MARTE*

Damaso Marte returned to the mound for the first time since May. He pitched a solid two-thirds of an inning, allowing nothing across the plate and striking out one.

    Hi, JQuist …

Wow, what a great way for the Yankees to start this big three-game series against the Red Sox with a 20-11 victory … Certainly, a major statement by the New York Yankees !!! … It is amazing how things even out in baseball, especially between the Yankees and Red Sox … Earlier in the season the Red Sox beat the Yankees 16-11 in the second game of this “season within a season” between both teams ….. And, now 0-8 has become 5-0 for the Yanks over the last five games vs. the Sox, increasing the Yankees lead to seven and a half games in the AL East !!! … Another great game in this “great” rivalry !!!
    .
Awesome performances by: Hideki Matsui (two homers, seven RBI’s); Alex Rodriguez (4-4, with one walk, and, like you stated above he almost hit for the cycle); Derek Jeter (3-6, three runs, two RBI’s); Mark Teixeira (3-5, three runs, three RBI’s); Melky Cabrera (4-6, two runs, two RBI’s), and the rest of the Yankees lineup !!! … The only negatives in this game was the Yankees pitching, except for Damaso Marte who retired the final two batters in the bases loaded situation [by Bruney] in the seventh inning !!!
    .
A great day for all in the Yankees Universe !!!
    .
Take care, JQuist !!! … Enjoy the game this afternoon !!!

The Yankees can not be that happy with the game last night. They got sloppy in the field and the pitching was horrible. But, lets face it, they picked a very good night to be sloppy. I look forward to the game this afternoon, how much you want to be it will be a 1-0 game? 🙂

J.Quist: You are flattering me, J.Quist. You want ME to be your WIFE?! Wow…I’m blushing a bit….I’m only 16…:)……heh heh. Well, if you want me, there are some things you should know: You must like dogs, and you must hate modern furniture. And I know you already love baseball, which is very important to me. See how easy I am? I’ll just have to put my feelings for Mitre aside…he’s married anyway….but I think it is obvious that I love him….But if you really look like Jonathan Taylor Thomas, forgetting Mitre will be easy!
About the game last night, it was something else! Even though at one point they had a 9 run lead, it felt a lot closer. A win is never an easy one vs the Red Sox. I hope A.J. pitches well today, but anything should be better than last night! -From Virginia, the soon to be bride. (jk)

Yikes, I didn’t mean to walk in on your lovefest with Virginia. HAHA! Back to baseball, it’s funny you mention A-Rod and the cycle. After he hit the triple, I was trying to figure out how it would be possible. After all, he almost hit a home run, and he had a single. Anyhow, it was a great night for him, which was good to see. I’m worried about Damon. I’ll miss not having him in the lineup for however long he’s out.

Marte is tough to count on. He had ups and downs. He looked good when the Yanks first got him a while ago, but then seemed to fall apart with his consistency. If he is on, then the Yanks just added another great lefty to that bullpen without really having to make a move!
