CC Sabathia (8-5) vs. John Lackey (3-4)

*I’m pretty confident that CC will hold it down as usual. I don’t see us losing again…

*Man, talk about a good start gone wrong. Pettitte kicked off the game pretty hot, heading into the 3rd with the lead, and absolutely no earned runs. That’s when things took a turn for the worse, and the Angels posted 7 runs in the 5th inning alone.

What seemed like a sure-fire win, quickly turned to chaos – and although we hit extremely well, the Angels did too. The final score was 14-8, and if you tuned in – it was honestly an exciting game of baseball. Tons of hits, tons of dramatic moments… but no win for us heading into the All-Star break.

Eric Hinske and A-Rod had two homeruns a piece. (That’s how you know it was a big game for the bats on both teams…) Four homeruns from two single players – and it still wasn’t enough to snatch the victory.  Here’s what was worth noting:

RODRIGUEZ: 2 for 3, 3 runs, 2 homeruns, 3 RBI’s

MATSUI: 1 for 4, 1 homerun

CANO: 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 RBI

HINSKE: 2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 homeruns, 3 RBI’s

I hope we can at least bring some momentum into the second half of the season, by winning today’s game. If not, we have a chance to fall 3 games back from first! Hopefully Sabathia can give us a decent start and give the bullpen a break, which has been struggling.
